Erasmus Mundus scholarship for Sanet Steyn

Sanet SteynSanet Steyn, former ICELDA bursary holder, NRF-funded intern and now ICELDA research associate, has been awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Funded by the European Union, this programme is geared towards meeting regional needs in higher education. Sanet will be enrolling for the highly regarded MA in Applied Linguistics at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. She is currently playing a key role ICELDA’s Umalusi Home Languages project. “Sanet is an exceptional student; among the top five students I have had the privilege to supervise at postgraduate level,” says Albert Weideman, ICELDA’s CEO. The scholarship will provide a solid basis for what promises to be a productive and accomplished academic career as an applied linguist.
