Cum laude for Sanet Steyn on Groningen MA degree

Sanet SteynICELDA project associate Sanet Steyn has passed the MA in Applied Linguistics at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen with distinction. The recipient of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship, she spent the last year in the Netherlands to read for the MA. During this time, she also served an internship with ICELDA in order to develop and pilot our new Test of Early Academic Literacy (TEAL), of which she was the sole designer. Her dissertation on the design and refinement of TEAL formed part of her study.

It was lauded by her examiners for its “obvious competence and thoroughness”, as well as the fluency with which it had been written. “ICELDA is privileged to have in its ranks a highly focussed designer of language assessment instruments, who can fully justify her creativity in terms of current theory,” says CEO Albert Weideman. We would like to add our congratulations for this well-deserved achievement.
