ICELDA’s project work the theme of two new MA degrees
Marilize Pretorius, ICELDA project associate, and Jo-Mari Myburgh, one of our research associates, today each received the MA degree at the University of the Free State for analyzing and writing up project work in the ICELDA stable. Marilize, who obtained the degree cum laude, has also been awarded the prestigious EUROSA scholarship for doctoral study at the University of Antwerp. Her theme was the development and justification of a syllabus for nurse communication as part of the Communication for Professionals (ComforPro) project. Jo-Mari’s study examined the utility of school home language results to determine the need for, and eventual possible placement on academic literacy interventions, and was commended by external examiners as detailed, systematic and of high quality.
Both studies have contributed to the further understanding of our design work, and have taken us into new fields. We wish both these associates the very best in their promising future careers.
